Wallpapering in Damp Areas - Tips and Tricks

Time : 2023-01-28 Hits : 10

Many people are put off wallpapering their homes because they think it will be too difficult, or they live in an area which is susceptible to damp. However, with the right preparation and product choices, wallpapering in a damp area can be no more difficult than any other room in your home. In this blog post, we'll share some of our top tips for wallpapering in damp areas, so that you can get the job done easily and effectively.

Make sure that the room is well-ventilated. Open windows and doors to allow for air circulation, and use fans to circulate the air if necessary.

Start by assessing the level of dampness in the room. If the room is only slightly damp, you may be able to get away with standard wallpaper; if the room is very damp or you would like to wallpaper the inside of your shower, you'll need to use a wallpaper that is specifically designed for use in damp areas. This type of wallpaper is often made from vinyl or other waterproof materials, and has a special backing that prevents moisture from seeping through.

Once you've chosen the right wallpaper, it's time to prepare the walls. This step is particularly important in rooms with high levels of dampness, as it will help to ensure that the wallpaper adheres properly. If you're starting from scratch, you'll need to make sure that the wall is clean, dry, and free from any defects. Then, apply a primer designed for use on walls that are prone to dampness. This will help to create a barrier between the wall and the paper, and it will also help to prevent mold and mildew from growing.

Once the surface is prepared, you can start to apply the wallpaper adhesive. When applying the adhesive, it's important to follow the manufacturer's instructions carefully.
